American casualty rates increasing in Iraq

In response to one of my recent posts, a friend commented that my post was misleading about the casualty situation in Iraq. But if you look at the statistics, it's pretty clear that the American casualty rate in Iraq is only increasing over time.

Even as the U.S. casualty rate continues to rise, the casualty rate for Iraqi civil defense forces is apparently increasing even faster. According to Rummy, "The Iraqis have lost more people than we have in their Iraqi security forces already. And they've only been organized in the last year or so."

What's bizarre is that Rummy mentions this factoid as part of his effort to convince us that the war is headed in the right direction.
