Surge update

Looks like the surge has just about solved all our problems in Baghdad, right? Riiiiight....

Especially worth noting is this passage:
But U.S. officials recently warned that insurgents were adopting new tactics to evade vehicular checkpoints. These include the use of suicide vests instead of car and truck bombs. They also say more women are being recruited as suicide attackers, lured by promises of financial security for their survivors.

Since October, the use of suicide vests has doubled across the country, according to U.S. military statistics. At least six women have blown themselves up since November, including the two today.
I wonder who these unnamed "U.S. officials" are -- definitely not on board with the communications strategy.
