The really interesting thing about the article is the common linkage between Bush's belief about Rafael "Viagra" Palmeiro and evolution: in both cases the facts are at odds with what Bush believes to be the nature of reality. And, in Bush's mind (wacky post-modernist that he is), facts buckle before observed reality. [There's a great article exploring this in more depth at http://www.slate.com/id/2095160 ] All this is amusing when one is talking about a baseball player's use of steroids and slightly troubling when one is thinking about the teaching of intelligent design but is positively frightening when extended into a world of national security, genuine rogue states (North Korea anyone?), loose nukes etc. We have a elected a president who's behaviour is a bit like that of a small child who covers his eyes with his hand and says with childish glee "You can't see me."
