Rolling Stone provides a grim summary: a government perched between impotence and illegitimacy is overseeing a quasi-Civil-War situation that continues to spell hundreds of weekly attacks, and has already yielded tens of thousands dead. It's frankly compleyely beyond me how anyone can think this situation is a harbinger of progress in the Middle East.
